Back by popular demand sessions:
Jain Debates
At past conventions, debates have been one of the most enjoyable as well
as enlightening sessions where participants pick a side on a controversial
topic such as “Should Jains defend their country in war?”
or “Is Animal testing justified for medicinal purposes?” and
discuss the merits of each side. Debates not only give you a chance to
participate and share your views, but you also learn through your fellow
attendees and meet new people! Get ready to defend what you stand for!
Interfaith panels and/or discussions
Do you wonder why people say Buddhism and Jainism are extremely similar?
Or do you want to learn more about the differences between Eastern and
Western religions? Well here’s your chance to do all of the above
and much more. The interfaith panel will serve as a place for you to get
your questions answered as well as a chance to learn about other religions
and gain appreciation for them.
New sessions:
Jain Cooking
Sick of your mom trying to teach you how to cook or do you just want to
learn some new, easy dishes that you can make yourself at college? Well
this is definitely the session for you! Get a chance to watch a Jain and
vegan chef whip up some meals for you and learn some amazing recipes while
you’re at it. Even if you aren’t a big fan of cooking, the
session ends with a tasting of some scrumptious Jain and vegan meals.
Now who can say no to that?!
Jain Games
Here’s a chance to play “Who Wants to be a Jain Scholar?”
or draw a “Tirthankar” in “Jain Pictionary.” If
art’s not your area of expertise, maybe you act out the word “puja”
in “Jain charades.” Show off your Jain knowledge and win some
big points for your team at this session!
Jain Music
Get a chance to listen to some Jain bhajans and stutis, while learning
the origins of the music as well as the meaning of the words. So next
time you go to temple, you’ll not only have a new stuti to say,
but you’ll also know exactly what it means.
Please note that these sessions are subject
to change.
