What You'll Be Doing

Tasks on site will vary, but the experience you get working with fellow Jain youth from your area is a memory you will never forget.... and better yet, a story you can tell over and over to your friends who missed out on such a great experience!

Depending upon your level of ability and experience, you may be doing any one
or combination of) the following tasks associated with the project:

FRAMING: rough carpentry for walls, floors, roofs
ROOFING: installation of sheathing, soffits, eaves, troughs
VINYL SIDING: installing siding
DRYWALL: hanging of drywall
INTERIOR TRIM: installation of baseboard, trim, cabinets, doors
FINISH FLOORING: laying of carpet, vinyl flooring
PAINTING: interior walls, ceiling, trim
LANDSCAPING: final grading, placing sod or spreading seed, planting
SCAFFOLDING: erection and take-down
ELECTRICAL: running wires, installing switches
PLUMBING: installing faucets, running pipe, boiler and/or water heater installation
Dispensing Tools
Food Preparation and/or Food Service
Security
Merchandise Sales
Clean up
Registration

Participants will arrive at the specified location in the registration packet for the respective city.   Work begins between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM and will last all day till anywhere between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. 

Financial Costs, Fundraising & Refunds

There is no associated cost with volunteering for H4H. However, no food is provided on-site, so be sure to bring enough money to buy your own lunch!

Transportation, Housing, Food, & Recreation

With your input, YJA will be selecting sites near your local community. Therefore, most participants will be within driving distance of a site. It is encouraged to have transportation at all times, whether you are traveling in a group or individually.  

Registration

Registration begins NOW! We urge participants ages 16 and older to sign up as soon as possible. Spaces are limited! Even though there is no deadline, once a site is filled with our members or once another organization occupies that site, the site is closed. Therefore, sign up as soon as you have reached a decision.
